Riverside offers a variety of mechanical and electronic air purifiers by Bryant and Broan-Nutone. This can be very important in this time of increased efficiency of homes. The "tighter" or more airtight you make a home the more impurities are trapped in the home, making a purifier almost a necessity. Traditionally, all the air purification was handled by a fiber or paper filter on the furnace. Now, we offer a line of air filters that can remove particles as small as .01 microns eliminating things such as dust, pollen, bacteria and smoke using only as much electricity as a 60 watt light bulb. These ultra fine particles are the cause of most of the soil (smudging) of walls, draperies, curtains, etc.
Conventional air filters used in furnaces remove only the very largest of contaminants. They do a little bit of good, but not much. There are excellent filters available today that will remove dust, dirt, pollen, mold, skin flakes, bacteria, and other airborne pollutants.
Types of air cleaning & purification:
Cartridge-type mechanical filters trap particles as small as 0.3 microns (a human hair is 100 microns across). It's much more effective than a furnace filter and even easier to maintain. Just pull out the cartridge filter and push in a new one. These are available in different cabinet models to fit various configurations (furnace mount, fan-coil mount, etc.)

Electronic Air Filtration systems mount in your heating duct system and trap particles as small as 0.01 microns. When dirty, simply remove the unit's cells, wash with a mild soap solution, rinse, dry, and replace back into the unit.

UV Light Enhances Filter Effectiveness.
Air cleaners and filters can do a great job trapping airborne particles. The Bryant UV Light goes one step further, using ultraviolet light to actually destroy them by penetrating down to the DNA.
Mounted inside your system near the indoor coil, small lamps direct UV light to the source of potential fungal and microbial growth. Once activated, the UV Light goes to work right away, cleaning the indoor coil.

For the ultimate, consider a HEPA Filtration and Fresh Air Ventilation System with heat recovery. The Broan-Nutone Guardian Plus system provides true HEPA filtration, while also removing some of the stale air from the house, replacing it with fresh air - without losing the heat. Its Counter Cross Flow Energy Recovery Core uses the warm indoor air to heat the incoming outdoor air before that air is introduced into the home. It's the industry's first combination Air Ventilation and True HEPA Filtration unit.

Indoor air quality
Four key ways to improve your home's indoor air quality:
1.
Identify sources of indoor air pollution. Eliminating smoking indoors, cleaning regularly and maintaining your HVAC equipment properly are good first steps to removing contaminants in your home.
2.
Provide adequate ventilation. Start by removing contaminants with a quiet bathroom fan and a ducted kitchen range hood. Next, dilute contaminants to an acceptable level with a whole-house continuous ventilation system (Air exchanger). Rapidly eliminating contaminants at the source lessens the possibility of dissipation throughout your home. A constant exchange of stale air with fresh air provides a more healthy, comfortable home.
3.
Filter incoming outside air with a whole-house air cleaning system. Using a filtration system in your home will lower the concentration of dust and other particulates from indoor air. Proper filter maintenance is important to sustain performance.
4.
Control indoor humidity. While humidity is not a pollutant, it can create a range of problems, from health concerns to structural problems. Maintain indoor relative humidity between 40 to 60% to minimize mold, mildew and other possible hazards, protect walls and furniture, and reduce static electricity buildup.
